Sketching by the Ocean
A Grape in the Fog, Pacifica
A slow creative afternoon in Pacifica — a walk along the beach and coastal trail, observing nature and sketching in Yulia Lu’s method, with Yulia and Nelli guiding throughout. Open to complete beginners; all art materials are included, and the finished piece goes home with you. Afterwards the group returns to A Grape in the Fog to keep drawing and talking. Food and drinks at the bar not included.

The Anderson Collection
Anderson Collection, Stanford
Modern and contemporary abstract art at Stanford’s Anderson Collection, next door to the Cantor. Instead of rushing to “understand” abstraction, the group slows down and looks closely — at color, form, scale, attention, and personal association. The session centers on Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell, two major figures of American Abstract Expressionism, and opens a conversation about the different experiences of men and women in the history of abstract art. One work is explored together through VTS. Held in English; museum admission is free.
